MANUFACTURERS OF CUSTOM MADE PAPER PULP

ZUBIALDE S.A., company founded on 21 November 1985, dedicated exclusively to the manufacture and marketing of high performance paper pulp since the year 1985, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 t. The company is located in Aizarnazabal (Gipuzkoa) by the Urola River, where there is water available for the whole production process. The workforce consists of 55 people, 45 of whom work in production in a Non-Stop system of 5 shifts over 360 days of the year. The rest of the workforce works in maintenance, services, administration and management.

RAW MATERIAL

We use resinous wood in our production, mainly Pinus radiata. This conifer, also known as Pino Insignis, Monterey Pine and Radiata Pine, was introduced into the community in the nineteenth century, and currently accounts for 43% of the forest mass of all species in the Basque Autonomous Region.
ZUBIALDE is located in the centre of this forested area and remains within a radius of 100 km. To a lesser extent we use maritime pine (pinus pinaster) from the Landes Forest in Gascony, the largest mass of resinous trees in Western Europe (around 1,000,000 ha). The timber we receive comes from thinnings or cuttings made to clean up and strengthen the forests and tips of the larger pine trees felled for the sawmills.

QUALITY. CUSTOM MADE.

Our paper pulp is custom manufactured to the customer's requirements. First of all, a 1kg sample is sent for analysis or to discuss the customer's requirements and if the sample is approved, an industrial test is begun with a 40' truck/lorry, before the first main order. The high performance qualities offered, differentiating the degree of refining and brightness obtained through the use of hydrogen peroxide.
With these parameters we provide varieties of:
Refining 30-55 Gº Shopper/ GE Brightness 45-75.
The pulp is presented with a dryness of approximately 85% in 890x630x550 mm bales, with a weight of around 220 kg. strapped, forming packages of 6 or 8 units. We offer packaging options for the customer, fastened with strap or wire and paper.

WE ARE SUSTAINABLE

The water for the process is pumped out of the Urola River. The water system is almost totally enclosed, therefore water consumption amounts to barely 3 m3 / tonne. Our existing waste water treatment plant includes a pre-treatment in a mud pool where, on one side, the fibres are recovered and reprocessed and, on the other, the resulting waste is transferred to a homogenisation pool for equalising any waste generated. Our key: a physical-chemical process for removing sludge; internal circulation anaerobic biological digester, a latest generation oxygenation aerobic biological reactor with sludge thickening for decantation and tertiary treatment. The sludge generated as a sub-product is dehydrated through centrifugation.

Formed in 1985. Dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of high performance pulps in various qualities and sizes. The production quality reaches the amount of 10,000 tonnes/year.

The company is based in AIZARNAZABAL (Gipuzkoa) and has 96,000 m2 of land next to the Urola River, whose waters are used in the production process.

OUR GOALS

TO PRODUCE HIGHER QUALITY PULP

In our process, we use softwood tree species, largely from species known scientifically as Pinus radiata and we continue experimenting with other timber species to produce our products.
